Testimonials

Queens Park Client, Katie. Martha managed the seemingly impossible: She created a multifunctional haven in our small terraced garden.

The brief wasn't easy - create an English country garden in the city, to include a fully functional play area for the kids, deck for mum and dad, and an abundance of beautiful flowers. Martha, from start to finish was a pleasure to work with. Brimming with ideas, energy and passion - I couldn't help but get swept up in the process.

In my experience it's extremely rare for a designer to not only 'really' listen but most importantly to be gifted enough to translate what was a personal vision into a reality.

But that's exactly what she did. The end product is better than we could ever have imagined. Martha's knowledge has been inspirational to the point that somewhere within this city girl a budding gardener has been born!

From a professional point of view Martha goes above and beyond taking time to discuss, plan and revise. She went out of her way to educate my toddler about plants by giving him opportunities to watch things grow which in turn means that we no longer worry about our 'part' of the garden being destroyed, and from a sanity point of view she is more than happy answering calls and messages 24/7. She manages third parties with a smile and makes the entire process from beginning to end a real treat.

We wouldn't hesitate to use Martha again and could not recommend her highly enough. Our only regret is that now that it's finished she won't be around so much.

Cristina, London. We loved the work that Martha did in our garden. She created a delightful and practical space that everyone could enjoy which was important as a family with children. She incorporated into the planting scheme a large oak framed swinging daybed for lazy afternoons in the sunshine and a smart BBQ area with modernist architectural timber structure for privacy covered in climbing plants. Unfortunately we had to move, but looking forward to work with Martha and her team on our new project.

Sanjeeva, Queens Park NW6. My brief to Martha was to give my garden a contemporary makeover with lots of grasses, a plethora of flowers and round-the-year interest. She executed this wonderfully and planted a mix of textures, colours and layers that were quite beautiful, and perfectly complemented the best of my existing plants . Among many highlights were the contrast of several luxuriant liriopes and spiky festucas in one bed, a gorgeous witch hazel, some deep burgundy helebores, and a profusion of anemones. Martha was very open to discussion despite my total lack of knowledge and that probably had a lot to do with my ending up with a garden that I love. She continues to look after it 3 or 4 times a year, and that's kept it looking great. I can't recommend her highly enough, and she's a pleasure to deal with to boot.

Leytonstone, Anna. Martha has produced a stunningly beautiful garden which is structured but at the same time wild just like we wanted. The colours are beautiful and Martha has been sensitive to the the style and colours of the house. We love our garden and so do our three small boys. She’s also great to work with !

Queens Park Client, Matt. I worked with Martha to landscape and plant a brand new garden during our house renovations with a baby on the way.

We are over the moon with our garden which is the perfect little hideaway to hang out with our new baby. I would have no hesitation in recommending Martha not only as a lovely person to work with but also the creator of fantastic gardens who is always open to what the client wants and full of great gardening advice.

The Avenue, Claire. Martha has worked on my garden now for over four years, we have savoured and enjoyed the 'work in progress’ aspect of its’ creation together as evolved into something wonderful.

I inherited a large south facing London garden with different levels. Instinctively I knew it had potential and that we could use some of what had obviously been structural elements but it was just an overgrown wilderness when I arrived. Full of nettles, brambles, saplings and a meadow that passed for a lawn. I felt very daunted though and had no idea how to take my vague ideas and turn them into reality.

Martha understood the mix of formality of structure with lush planting that I was after and the idea of creating different "rooms" in the garden to provide some privacy and screening in the few exposed parts of the garden.

She brought a fresh modern approach to the planting which I love and has helped me understand how to mix plants and provide both colour and texture throughout the year. She cleverly incorporated those existing trees and shrubs which could be saved and which were brought back to life and harmoniously mixed lots of new plants into the planting and colour scheme. It’s a joy to come home to after work. It’s my sanctuary.
